Ellen Carey is an American photographer and artist exhibiting at Fox Talbot Museum, Lacock.
In this exhibition, Ellen uses camera, and ‘camera-less’, techniques to produce a collection of kaleidoscopic abstract images and photo processed collages. Very large Polaroid ‘pulls’ have been created and both light sensitive negative and white receiving paper are displayed. This experimentation with photo processing and light, resonates with Fox Talbot’s early investigations in the development of photography.
This was a challenging project to frame. We displayed the large Polaroid images by wall mounting, and then securing a frame with a deep spacer and UV anti-reflective glass. The smaller pieces were conventionally mounted and framed. We produced the frames and mounts in our workshop which were then installed under the supervision of Ellen and the museum’s exhibition curator, Andy Cochrane.
